Hartebeest is the studio for graphic and illustrative design of Maaike van den Heuvel & Gerco Hiddink.
Hartebeest designs for print, screen and space: books, illustrations, websites, campaigns, exhibitions, LP & CD covers, posters, magazines, visual identities, cards, animations, brochures, signage.
Hartebeest works from the content. A design process always starts with a consultation, in which characteristics and goals are defined. Through research and experiment Hartebeest searches for clear and surprising design solutions, with an optimal integration of texst and (illustrative) image, using a strong typography.
Hartebeest likes working in teams. No commission is too small or too big. Together with the client and our network of (copy)writers, photographers, programmers, filmers and animators we can come up with a customised solution.
Hartebeest liks to work for organisations and companies in the field of arts and culture, research and nature (museums, universities, nature and animal organisations, publishers, artists, musicians, podia). In principle for anyone who's open for a research-based design process. Look at 'clients' for an overview.
A Hartebeest is a grassland antelope from Africa. The name is the same in English and Dutch. In Hartebeest the tough and the sweet are united.
