

On the 16th Novembember 2011 we visited the Abel Tasman Kabinet in Lutjegast, Groningen: the only museum in the Netherlands about Abel Tasman. Op 16 november 2011 bezochten wij het Abel Tasman Kabinet in Lutjegast, Groningen: het enige museum over Abel Tasman in Nederland.


The sign says: If you like to view the Abel Tasmankabinet you can apply to the local supermarket, Abel Tasmanroad 70. Information about tours on arrangement: the town hall, tel. 0594 (…) or the library tel 0594 612(…).

This note says: Dear visitor of the Abel Tasman Kabinet, welcome. The Abel Tasman Kabinet is open on thursday, friday and saturday, 13.30 -16.30. During the opening hours you can report at the local supermarket ‘Troefmarkt’, Abel Tasmanroad 70, or at the shop of Jannie Stokroos, Abel Tasmanroad 87, tel 6120(….). The sign says: Clothing of the Maoris. The clothing of the Maoris was a complicated matter, with different designs for each tribe, it shows the order of ranking. Personal decoration consisted of: bones and greenstone (…). De kleding van Maori’s. De kleding van Maori’s was gecompliceerd van aard, met verschillende dessins per stam, de rangorde binnen een stam is er aan te zien. Persoonlijke versiering bestond uit: bot en groene stenen (…).
